Position Description
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this leadership role oversees a dynamic portfolio of summer and after-school programs. The Director will design and manage offerings that align with the school’s educational mission and support the academic and recreational interests of our students and broader school community, while also developing innovative programming that attracts and engages external audiences. This position will be part of the business office team and regularly attend business office team meetings.
Position Responsibilities
Strategic Program Development
Seek, identify and develop new program opportunities that are mission aligned and enhance student experiences and generate non-tuition revenue.
Continue to build, grow and oversee summer camp offerings and opportunities based on current community needs or expressed interests from external constituents. This includes possible development of a middle school program in our Gatorland Day Camp model.
Partner with Artistic Director and Dean of the Arts to coordinate The Dance Conservatory dance program including setting summer schedules and pricing/billing with business office.
In addition to The Dance Conservatory, oversee personnel and program related to after school music lessons, lower school aftercare (in partnership with lower school head) and campus tutoring program.
Financial Management
Work with Chief Financial Officer to set pricing for all auxiliary programming and monitor revenues and expenses in accordance with budgetary restrictions for bottom line performance across all programs.
Create multi-year plan to identify opportunities for additional internal programming, external partnerships, sets budget and programming short and long term goals and efficient use of campus resources.
Regularly meet with supervisors, including the Chief Financial Officer, to prepare effective and regular communications on enrollment and budget related to auxiliary programming.
Marketing and Communications
Effectively promote auxiliary programs so as to achieve enrollment and revenue targets.
In coordination with the communications team, ensure that auxiliary programs have an effective and accurate web presence including the website and social media and develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy for all auxiliary programs.
Oversee the creation and distribution of regular communications among summer and auxiliary program constituencies that effectively provide updated information and a sense of community.
Prepare, communicate and analyze camp and program surveys to regularly solicit feedback from parents and participants, measuring success of programs.
Administration and Operations
Help manage administrative duties of vibrant auxiliary programs including oversight of CampBrain registration and accounting system, including registration and billing platforms.
Like CampBrain, familiarize and ensure all registration information is correct in DanceStudioPro, the TDC enrollment management system.
Partner with school year nursing team and summer camp nurse to ensure the administration of auxiliary programs are efficient, effective and aligned with all licensing and health protocols.
Work with and submit timely requests for facilities needs across campus in addition coordination of summer capital projects and summer camp spacing.
Coordinate with summer camp team to coordinate summer staff orientations, meal service and ensure all materials and supplies are ordered for effective programming.
During summer camp, field parent phone calls, respond to email inquiries, and manage weekly communication with parents, camp staff, and providers in a professional manner.
Ensure all paperwork is prepared and filed in a timely manner with the State of Maryland to be in compliance with all applicable regulations of licensing and governing entities. Be present for summer camp agent visits and reporting needs.
Work with leadership on risk management strategies in planning for summer camp activities and before or after school programming.
Work with Executive Director of Human Resources to hire summer and auxiliary staff including reviewing applications and scheduling interviews. In addition, ensure all onboarding paperwork has been completed prior to summer camp start date including finalizing of fingerprinting, CPS submissions to the state, work permits and employment verifications under Maryland House Bill 486.
Work with summer camp directors to review and submit payroll for counselors and staff, including additional payments for external vendors.
Oversee campus pool operations, including communication with pool company when issues, pool camp inspection and scheduling of lifeguards for summer camp activities.
Manage ropes course programming including certification classes for employees, regular inspections, expanding programming to students and faculty during the school year, communicate offerings and partner with Director of Operations on repairs.
Required Education and Experience
Minimum three years’ experience working in and overseeing auxiliary programs or similar programs.
Experience with CampBrain or similar system is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education required with preferred relevant experience
Detail-oriented with the capacity to effectively and efficiently manage numerous small and large tasks
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and other related technology
Excellent communication skills with the ability to exchange accurate information with a variety of constituencies (parents, students/campers, third party partners)

The St. Paul’s Schools has a compensation scale based on direct years of experience and degree held. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s years of experience, education and skills. For this opportunity, our salary range is $75,000 to $90,000 annually. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside of the range shown.
