Moravian Academy is seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School mathematics teacher.
Position Description
This is a full time Middle School faculty position. This teacher is responsible for designing and delivering mathematics courses to serve the Downtown Campus’s Middle School students in grades 6-8. This teacher will collaborate with the other department and grade level teachers in supporting all students to reach their full potential. This position reports to the Director of the Downtown Campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach four mathematics sections across grades 6-8, which can include pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry.
- Serve as an advisor to a group of middle school students.
- Facilitate hands-on exploration, student collaboration and curiosity-filled experiences.
- Support meaningful partnerships with parents and families using online tools, emails, and phone calls.
- Demonstrate knowledge of developmental stages in children with targeted strategies to attend to social and emotional needs of each child.
- Create meaningful partnerships with parents and families, including regular communications through school-supplied online tools, emails, and phone calls.
- Write narrative reports every trimester.
- Participate in professional collaboration including committee and divisional meetings, cross-divisional efforts, and grade-team meetings.
- Perform duties and coverages outside of the classroom across the Middle School.
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, education, or a closely related field; Masters strongly preferred.
- 3-5 years of teaching experience as a middle school mathematics teacher.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a previous background in independent schools and those trained in Developmental Designs, Responsive Classroom, or a similar SEL program.

Compensation and Benefits
Moravian Academy salaries are competitive and based on years of experience and expertise.
