Landon seeks a full-time Upper School Learning Specialistfor the 2024-2025 school year. In collaboration with the other Learning Specialists, as well as other faculty and administrators, the Learning Specialist will help support Landon’s student-centered learning approach and ensure that students’ diverse learning styles and needs are identified, understood, communicated, and supported. The Learning Specialist will research and share topics and strategies related to differentiated instruction and will maintain files and resources to support students’ learning.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Review psycho-educational assessments and generate student learning plans
Assess students and provide/recommend appropriate assistance
Lead coordinated professional development sessions for faculty to enhance their knowledge of best teaching practices
Attend and contribute to grade meetings with teachers
Observe classes in order to appraise support programs and instructional effectiveness
Review admissions files with Upper School Admissions Committee
Teach a class, serve as an advisor, and coach a season in the athletics program
Oversee registration and logistics for all College Board and ACT related processes for appropriate students
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a degree in Special Education and/or Literacy, experience working with Upper School students, and strong communication and organization skills.
