International School of Brooklyn is seeking dynamic, hardworking, part-time Middle School Basketball Coaches for the 2025-26 Winter season for the following teams:
5th & 6th grade co-ed
7th & 8th grade girls
7th & 8th grade boys
Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the successful candidates will possess a genuine love and knowledge of basketball and understand how to teach, mentor, and motivate student-athletes. In addition, the ability to lead collaboratively and creatively is essential. The candidate should understand and enjoy working with middle school students (ages 10-14) and inspire students to embrace athletics and friendly competition. Other ideal attributes include commitment, patience, strong player management skills, positive energy, a sense of humor, and a commitment to making basketball accessible to all types of learners and levels. While this is a part-time role, we are looking for someone eager to integrate into our school community and remain committed to the responsibilities of a youth sports coach. The season runs from the beginning of December through February.
Position requirements:
Previous coaching and/or basketball experience.
Familiarity working with adolescents.
Current Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or ability to obtain certification prior to the season.
In-depth knowledge of the sport’s rules, strategies, and regulations.
Availability to hold practices from approximately 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM two days per week, along with morning availability from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM once per week.
Attend all scheduled games & practices for the season. The number of games in a season varies by team, and can range from 5-14 games per team, depending on level.
Position description:
The individual will (but not limited to):
Collaborate with the Director of Athletics to create a high-energy, positive team dynamic that balances competition and inclusivity.
Develop a program plan for the season that incorporates goals, skill development, and appropriate practice plans.
Handout, collect, store, and maintain equipment/uniforms throughout the course of the season.
Appropriately and effectively communicate with players and families (in-person and via email) throughout the course of the season, as well as any other administrative duties.
