Rippowam Cisqua School seeks an experienced fundraising professional for the position of Director of Development. The Director of Development serves as a member of the Senior Administrative team, is an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees, and reports directly to the Head of School.
The Director of Development is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of all fundraising activities at the school. The Director of Development works closely with the Head of School and the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees to promote the economic sustainability of the school through various fundraising instruments, including the Annual Fund, bi-annual Auction, and capital campaigns. The Director of Development also supervises the Associate Director of Advancement and the Director of Advancement Operations.
The Director of Development will work in partnership with the Head of School and the Capital Campaign Committee to establish the next stage for capital fundraising at RCS, which may include a campaign for the school’s endowment.
The ideal candidate for the position will:
Be deeply committed to the education of children in a mission-driven setting and appreciate the uniqueness and value of an independent school education
Promote a culture of philanthropy at the school
In partnership with the Head of School, the Chief Financial Officer, and the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees, establish an annual budget goal for the Annual Fund and for any other fundraising activities, including capital campaigns.
Utilize fundraising databases to manage donor data, and track engagement to enhance the advancement strategy. Leverage data analytics to develop and track key performance indicators to evaluate fundraising performance and develop strategic development initiatives. Familiarity with the Blackbaud database system is a plus.
Implement digital fundraising tools and platforms to enhance outreach and community engagement
Have experience managing fundraising consultants
Immerse themself in the life of the School and cultivate relationships with donors across the giving spectrum
In partnership with the entire Advancement Office, coordinate all major social events for parents, alumni, and other groups
Increase alumni engagement and evaluate existing alumni programming for efficacy
Serve as a primary point of contact for external relations with other local civic groups and work to promote greater interconnectedness between institutions
Be and organized and highly motivated individual with exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to teamwork, and strong communication skills
Rippowam Cisqua School aspires to meet candidates from a wide range of backgrounds. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or higher, a minimum of three years of fundraising experience at an independent school (including in major gifts and/or capital campaigns), and possess a deep understanding of the culture, expectations, and nuances of independent school fundraising. This is a full-time, exempt position with compensation ranging between $125,000 - $150,000, commensurate with experience. A healthy array of benefits, including tuition remission, are available for all full-time employees.
