Peoria Academy (PA), an independent, coeducational, progressive PK-8 school founded in 2000 in Peoria Illinois. PA is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Early childhood preschool teacher assistants implement developmentally appropriate educational experience for young children and assess their progress. They maintain a clean, safe, and engaging learning environment, and foster the cognitive, emotional, and physical needs of each child. Applicants must be physically and emotionally healthy, poised, punctual and enthusiastic. They must communicate effectively and work well with others. In addition, they should demonstrate a love for teaching young children and serving families, as well as an ability to articulate the mission and vision of Peoria Academy.
We are seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Preschool Teacher Assistant for a year-round position, offering a competitive pay rate of $18-$20 per hour.
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Implement lessons/themes that are meaningful and educationally appropriate for young children.
Be patient and consistent with all students.
Promote positive interactions every day.
Multitask and work with various children without direct instruction.
Allow children to self-guide and provide intervention when necessary.
Regularly assess children to form greater understanding of their development.
Utilize positive discipline strategies within the classroom.
Follow all policies and procedures for inside and outside the classroom.
Regularly clean and sanitize the classroom and materials to maintain health and safety.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with early childhood students;
Associates degree in early childhood education desired;
Certified or willing to become certified in CPR/First Aid;
Must be legally able to work in the United States;
Completion of the state-required fingerprinting and criminal background check is required;
Knowledge of child development;
Maturity, presence, and a sense of humor; andA strong personal drive for excellence and dedication to life-long learning.
