Job Summary:
We are growing, and are looking to support this growth by adding a Pre-K Lead Teacher who will help develop and guide the academic and social-emotional growth of our youngest students.
Responsibilities will include:
Applying your knowledge of early childhood development and the Reggio Emilia approach to help develop our three- and four-year-old students.
Bringing your experience with emergent curriculum and experiential education to every school day.
Developing the lesson plans for your class, working with your division head and head of school to ensure alignment with school goals and pedagogy.
Attending all scheduled meetings and events, including but not limited to department meetings, faculty meetings, all-school and family or community events and others as determined by the head of school and your division head. Helping chaperone field trips.
Having a clear understanding of our school mission and values, and using these as the foundation for all planning, education and activity.
Communicating regularly and effectively with parents, peers and leadership on school and student issues, progress, challenges, successes.
Evaluating student performance, social development, behavior, health and intellectual growth, reporting on these periodically and as scheduled by your department head through school-defined systems and processes.
Planning and conducting parent-teacher conferences during designated periods and as otherwise needed.
Having knowledge of student and faculty handbooks and other school policies and enforcing within school guidelines.
Other responsibilities and activities as directed by the Head of School and Early Childhood Division Head.
The ideal candidates will:
Hold a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in pre-school or elementary education or a discipline relevant to pre-school education from an accredited four-year college or university. Advanced degree(s) are a plus.
Have at least 2 years of classroom experience, ideally in an independent school and with younger students, but this is not required. For the right candidate we are open to hiring recent graduates with suitable education or experiential credentials.
Be capable of designing lessons for pre-school students and teaching these lessons.
Tailor an innovative, engaging educational approach to the needs of a class or student, delivering an education that effectively motivates every student to their potential and reflects our school’s mission and pedagogy.
On and off campus, represent our school in a way that positively builds our brand image and motivates people to learn more about the school.
Help develop and execute school events and programs as needed.
Comply with all applicable local, state and federal rules and regulations regarding teaching school children.
Welcome constructive performance reviews, working to implement ideas for improvement on an ongoing basis.
Have unimpeachable ethics, honesty, respect for all and a deep desire to work on behalf of students and the people who serve them.
Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as required by school leadership.
