About the Position The Peck School, a coed, K-8, independent school in Morristown, NJ, seeks an individual to provide general full-time support to the Upper School. This position is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic self-starter who enjoys working with middle school students to gain experience as a teacher among an experienced and dedicated faculty.
Overview of Responsibilities
Instructional Support: Facilitate 7th-grade Reading Zone/Study Hall (three sections), 8th-grade Reading Zone/Study Hall (three sections, Semester 2 only), and other areas as needed.
Coverage Support: Serve as a substitute teacher, covering Upper School classes and duties as needed (grades 5-8).
Divisional Support: Work with the Upper School Division Office and Dean of Students, supporting the organization and running of various tasks, events, and initiatives.
Duties: Perform duties as assigned. Duties include, but are not limited to, overseeing student safety and wellness during recess, handling arrival and dismissal duties, and supervising lunch. Peck’s family-style dining provides a point of connection. Each faculty member receives their own duty schedule. Coaching and/or facilitating an activity can be duty opportunities.
Meetings & Professional Development: Participate in all required professional development activities and meetings, including division meetings, scheduled collaboration time, professional development days, and end-of-year meetings.
Qualifications/Experience
A bachelor’s degree is required.
Previous experience working with middle school students is a plus.

Communication Skills: Use excellent oral and written communication skills to maintain open communication channels with peers, administrators, faculty, and students. Have the ability to work with students in a supportive and productive manner.
Collaboration Skills: A flexible mindset. Consistent, positive collaboration with a team of talented faculty and supportive administrators. Excellent time management skills and an understanding of how timeliness and responsibility affect the whole.
Cultural Awareness: Demonstrate the ability and desire to understand, appreciate, and interact with people from other cultures or belief systems. Dedication to supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being.
