Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a full-time licensed lower school Social Worker or certified School Psychologist for grades K-4. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a large department of Mental Health Support Services within a vibrant and energetic community of educators. This position is open for immediate hire.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Provide group counseling
Provide individual counseling when needed
Provide crisis intervention and additional support as needed
Develop and implement health and wellness curriculum
Collaborate with Speech & Language Pathologists to implement social skills lessons to younger elementary school aged children
Work collaboratively with homeroom teachers and other related service providers
Maintain regular contact with families
Attend regularly scheduled team, grade level and department meetings
Seek improved methods of counseling through professional development opportunities ? Other duties as assigned
Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Provide parent/family guidance
Co-facilitate parent/family support group meetings
Involvement in Emergency Management Team
Collaborate with and make referrals to outside treatment providers and evaluators ? As a member of the Admissions Committee, support the Enrollment Management Office through reviewing candidate files, conducting interviews, etc.
Provide professional development to Churchill faculty and participate in professional presentations to the parent community
Contribute to IEP related meetings
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
LCSW or NYS certification as a School Psychologist
Experience working with, mentoring, supervising and/or building positive relationships with elementary school aged children
Strong interpersonal and clinical skills
Experience working with children with learning disabilities is preferred
Cultural awareness and the ability to connect effectively with diverse populations
Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective counseling strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities ? Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
Compensation
$75-100K commensurate with experience
