Bring your passion for technology and imagination to St. Mark’s and help us build something entirely new.
Why Join Us
At St. Mark’s, we believe technology and creativity go hand in hand. We’re seeking a computer science educator, or an innovative professional excited to become one, who is eager to design and launch a forward-thinking Computer Science program from the ground up. If you’re passionate about coding, robotics, engineering, or digital innovation, this is a rare opportunity to shape a department, spark student curiosity, and create something truly special.
Teaching here is more than what happens in the classroom. As a faculty member, you’ll also serve as an advisor, coach, and mentor, helping students navigate school, discover new talents, and grow into their best selves. Our community thrives on collaboration and connection, and we’re looking for educators and innovators who are excited to engage fully in all aspects of residential school life.
What You’ll Do
You will be a builder, mentor, and innovator. Your role will include:
Designing and launching a Computer Science program that reflects your experience and the vision of St. Mark’s School, from foundational courses in coding to advanced electives in areas like robotics, AI, data science, or app design
Creating hands-on, project-based learning experiences that inspire students to tinker, experiment, and think like coders, engineers and entrepreneurs
Advising a small group of students and fostering their growth academically and personally
Guiding students in robotics, coding competitions, or independent projects that bring their ideas to life
Collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to connect Computer Science with art, math, science, and beyond
Engaging fully in community life: coaching, supervising residential evenings, participating in Saturday classes or programs, and more
What We’re Looking For
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree a plus, but not required)
Teaching and/or coaching experience is welcome but not essential; what matters most is your ability to inspire, mentor, and engage young learners
Comfort with programming languages, robotics, or emerging technologies
Creativity in designing curriculum and a willingness to experiment with new ideas
A commitment to community, mentoring, and the full life of a residential school
Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Why You’ll Love It Here
A warm, close-knit community of students and colleagues
Generous benefits: housing, meals, health coverage, tuition remission
Access to campus facilities, from the fitness center to nature trails
The freedom to imagine and build a brand-new program
Daily opportunities to make a difference both inside and outside the classroom
Salary Range: $50,000 – $90,000. Pay is commensurate with experience.

St. Mark's School is a coed, private boarding high school of approximately 375 students with a strong, college preparatory curriculum located 22 miles west of Boston and 12 miles east of Worcester. St. Mark's School educates young people for lives of leadership and service. Founded in 1865 as an intentionally small residential community, the School challenges its students to develop their particular analytic and creative capabilities by both inspiring their academic and spiritual curiosity and kindling their passion for discovery. We value cooperation over self-interest, and we encourage all members of our community to explore their place in the larger world beyond our campus.
St. Mark’s School provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, sex, sexual orientation, disability or genetics, and any other characteristic or status protected by law. This commitment is exemplified in numerous ways, such as our welcoming Chapel program, our Pathways Program which houses multiple student-centered affinity spaces, and the intersectional work within our office of Communit...y and Equity and Global Studies programs. The School values flexible educators who possess an optimistic, growth-oriented mindset regarding learning, both for themselves and their students.
