Garrison Forest School is seeking a creative and dynamic individual for a full-time, long-term substitute faculty position in our Middle and Upper School as a Science Teacher commencing August 2025 through mid November 2025. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic educator who brings an energetic and contemporary approach to science education. This position reports to the Head of the Middle School and Upper School and meets with the Science Department Chair. The salary range for this position is $17,000-$22,000 based on years of experience and education level; the exact compensation will be discussed during the hiring process.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach multiple grades of science in the Middle School (6th-7th) with a course-load that will include a combination of Environmental Engineering and Life Science
Teach one section of 9th grade Biology
Serve as an advisor to a group of 6th grade Middle School students
Work alongside grade level teams to build cross-curricular connections and interdisciplinary projects
Take responsibility for being a role model by maintaining an environment that fosters respect among students and colleagues
Possess strong communication skills, a patient and thorough understanding of early adolescence and the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues
B.A. degree or equivalent
Prior experience working with middle school children in a school
