St. Andrew's Episcopal School is seeking an innovative Upper School Theatre Teacher for a full-time, permanent position starting August 2025 at our Southwest Parkway Campus in Austin, Texas. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher in Theatre or a related field, several years of teaching and directing experience, excellent character, a collaborative orientation, and a passion for teaching high school students. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of theatre in a variety of areas, including directing, acting, scenic design, and costume design. Some technical knowledge is preferred, and experience in choreography is a bonus.
This full-time position will involve teaching classes in acting and theatre production - which includes directing the Upper School fall production and assisting with the senior-directed plays in the spring. In addition, the theatre teacher directs the musical in the winter as an extracurricular activity. Because the candidate will also serve as an advisor, prior experience with social emotional learning curricula and diversity work is ideal. The salary will be based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
Act as an advisor for 8-10 students daily - provide academic support, social emotional development, & facilitate discussions regarding inclusion & belonging
Attend daily chapel with their advisory
Employ a “student-first” mindset when supporting students & partnering with families
Prioritize student relationships & foster a safe & predictable environment
Attend meetings to facilitate growth & learning: full faculty, team-level, & department as needed
Utilize professional development opportunities to continue growth in their craft

Are team players & open to serve the community in other ways that arise throughout the school year
