Job Description: Alpine Ski Coach at The Forman School
Position Overview:
The Forman School is seeking a passionate and experienced Alpine Ski Coach to lead and develop our alpine ski team. The coach will work closely with student-athletes to enhance their skills, foster teamwork, and promote a positive and competitive team culture. The ski coach will oversee practices, training sessions, and competitions, with a focus on safety, skill progression, and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute effective and engaging alpine ski practices at Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, CT, from Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
- Collaborate with the strength and conditioning coach to develop comprehensive training programs that enhance athletes' physical fitness and skiing performance.
- Provide individualized coaching to athletes, offering guidance on technique, strategy, and tactics to help them reach their full potential.
- Create a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes sportsmanship, camaraderie, and personal development.
- Organize and supervise team participation in 12 ski competitions throughout the season.
- Ensure the safety of all athletes during training and competitions by adhering to established safety protocols and guidelines.
- Effectively communicate with athletes, parents, and school administration to keep them informed about practice schedules, competitions, and any relevant updates.
- Assist with equipment management, maintenance, and preparation to ensure athletes have appropriate gear for practices and competitions.
- Attend team meetings, coaching workshops, and professional development opportunities to stay current with the latest coaching techniques and trends.
- Uphold the values and standards of The Forman School while serving as a positive role model for student-athletes.
Season:
The coaching position runs from early December to mid-February, encompassing the alpine ski season.

Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience in alpine skiing, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of alpine skiing techniques, tactics, and training methods.
- Ability to communicate effectively and motivate student-athletes to achieve their goals.
- Organizational skills to manage practice schedules, competitions, and equipment needs.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- A commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all team members.
- Passion for skiing, teaching, and fostering a love for the sport in young athletes.
