Qualifications:
Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of golf and continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
Reports To: Director of Athletics, Assistant Director of Athletics, Headmaster
Supervises: A staff of high school assistant coaches in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and the Assistant Director of Athletics
Job Goal: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicates effectively with players, personnel, and parents.
Creates appropriate match and practice schedules based on individual student-athlete needs and development.
Motivates players to develop a growth mindset.
Develops a culture of positive sportsmanship.
Ensures health exams are completed.
Monitors student-athlete attendance, behavior, and academic status in accordance with the mission of Xavier High School.
Provides appropriate attention to maturity, readiness, and pairing of student-athletes.
Models appropriate behavior and dress in accordance with the mission and professional standards of Xavier High School.
Determines season-ending awards.
Administers season-ending program evaluations by student-athletes.
Ensures injured athletes are cleared by a physician in order to return to practice.
Maintains certification in first-aid, AED, CPR, Concussion education, and VIRTUS.
Strives to improve skills by attending professional development sessions/clinics.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
