About Us
For over 50 years, Christ Episcopal School has been the kind of place where students actually want to be—a warm, inclusive community in the heart of downtown Rockville, Maryland, where diversity isn't just a buzzword and small class sizes mean real connections. We're consistently ranked as a top independent school, but what we're really proud of is how we help kids become confident, thoughtful humans who actually care about the world around them.
The Role
We're looking for a fundraising professional who gets that development is really about storytelling, relationship-building, and creating genuine community impact. As our Director of Development and Alumni Relations, you'll report directly to the Head of School and lead the charge in building philanthropic support that directly funds the experiences and opportunities our students deserve.
This isn't just about hitting fundraising targets (though you'll definitely do that). You'll be the bridge between our school's mission and the community that supports it—crafting strategies, cultivating relationships with donors, and helping people see why investing in Christ Episcopal School matters.
The Setup
Part-time, 20 hours per week—with flexibility to work 10 of those hours remotely. We believe in work-life balance and trust you to manage your time like the professional you are.
What You'll Actually Do
You'll own both the big-picture strategy and the day-to-day execution of our development efforts:
Design and implement fundraising strategies that work, including leading our Annual Fund campaign
Build a sustainable donor development vision and explore possibilities for an endowment fund
Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors (the kind where you actually know their interests and values)
Hunt down and apply for grants that support our mission
Engage and grow our alumni network—turning former students into lifelong advocates
Lead signature events like our Auction and Gala, Golf Tournament, and other fundraising experiences
Partner with Development Chairs on our Board of Trustees
Coordinate community and alumni events, including Fall Festival and Homecoming, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, and Education Celebration Sunday
Produce our Joy and Impact of Giving Report and handle gift acknowledgements for the Head of School
Jump in with two student-related duties per week (lunch duty, carpool—you'll actually get to know the kids!)
Collaborate with our Development consultant/mentor (because we believe in supporting your growth too)
Commit to approximately 20 hours weekly, with at least 10 on campus
What You Need
Bachelor's degree and authorization to work in the U.S.
Experience in an administrative role at an independent school
Comfort with Google Workspace (you don't need to be a wizard, just proficient)
Experience managing websites and databases
A background check (standard procedure before hiring)
To Apply
Send your letter of interest, resume, and a brief statement about your development philosophy to Cyndy Mamalian at cmamalian@cesrockville.org.
