COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Salary range is $78,910 - $139,740 and is based on education and years of teaching experience. Pinewood offers comprehensive benefits to employees. POSITION SUMMARY:
Pinewood is seeking a full-time Learning Specialist (Grades K-2) for the 2025-26 academic year. The Learning Specialist plays a vital role in supporting early learners by identifying and addressing developmental and academic needs. This educator works collaboratively with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to support students with diverse learning profiles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with faculty to identify students who are having academic challenges and who may need learning support.
Work with students one on one or in small groups who need learning support connected to the curriculum to be successful in the classroom.
Observe students in and outside of class to provide feedback to teachers, parents, and campus head to better serve the needs of the students.
Guide teachers on how to differentiate instruction for a variety of learning styles.
Collaborate effectively with teachers to implement recommended classroom accommodations and interventions.
Case management of students with learning differences.
Make referrals as needed to appropriate outside specialists.
Prepare and present documentation regarding students receiving services to teachers and administrators, including summaries of the students’ learning disabilities, learning styles, type of support being offered.
Review screenings and evaluations with parents, teachers, and evaluators to design a support plan.
Provide professional development for teachers.
Attend/lead grade level meetings and follow up on any recommendations for action that arise at those meetings.
Provide feedback to teachers on a regular basis.
Communicate effectively with parents on a regular basis regarding students’ needs and/or progress.
Attend regular monthly faculty meetings and participate in school events.
Support with testing-organize and analyze data, communicate results to faculty, etc.
Assist with the implementation of the SEL program/curriculum.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to spend long hours sitting, using computers and office equipment.
Ability to reach out, stoop, kneel, crouch, occasionally to answer phones, maintain office equipment, retrieve items from overhead storage and carry files.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development or a related field is required. Master’s degree in a related field and/or a teaching credential is desired.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in classroom teaching and working with students in grades K-2 with learning differences.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
