 The Associate Teacher is a supportive partner to the Homeroom Teacher in a mixed-age classroom.  Together the teachers provide an intellectually challenging, creative and differentiated educational program for gifted learners.

Role:

• Support and collaborate with the Homeroom Teacher in delivering instruction using a variety of best practice curricular approaches. 
• Support the Homeroom Teacher in providing for the social and emotional development of the students 
• Collaborate with Homeroom Teacher in implementing a multicultural and culturally relevant curriculum.
• Support the Homeroom Teacher in their responsibility to share student learning and progress. 
• Maintain effective communication with the Homeroom Teacher, colleagues, and administration.  
• Attend faculty meetings, participate in committees, and provide supervision for lunch, recess, and after school as required

 Skills:

• Work or student teaching experience providing classroom instruction in an elementary school
• Committed to supporting and collaborating with Homeroom Teacher
• Demonstrated instructional and communication skills
• Ability to form collaborative work relationships   
• Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency work in order to perform responsibilities in accordance with Roeper's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
• A collegial approach and congenial temperament
