Our rapidly growing bilingual international school in Hoboken, NJ (minutes from downtown Manhattan), is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic French Primary Teacher & French Program Coordinator. This part-time position includes teaching a fourth-grade class, providing French language support to students, and overseeing the coordination of the school’s French program.

The role also involves preparing the school’s application for Cycle 2 accreditation by the French Ministry of Education for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Position Highlights:

• Teach a part-time 4th-grade French class in partnership with an English-speaking co-teacher
• Provide individualized French language support to students
• Lead and coordinate the French curriculum schoolwide (preschool through elementary)
• Liaise with key French educational bodies (AEFE, MLF, etc.)
• Become familiar with the International Baccalaureate (IB) program
• Join a collaborative, mission-driven school community in the greater New York City area

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching (Part-time):

• Develop and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with the French national curriculum and the IB framework
• Support students in the French program through targeted instruction and differentiated learning strategies
• Monitor and document students' academic, emotional, and social progress
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning and wellbeing
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
• Contribute to the school's humanistic values and mission
• Prepare lesson plans in advance and ensure continuity of learning during absences
• Participate actively in professional development opportunities

Program Coordination:

• Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the French curriculum across all grades
• Support and mentor French program teachers
• Organize French cultural and academic events throughout the school year
• Serve as the liaison with French educational authorities and institutions

Qualifications:

• Excellent command of French required
• Authorized to work in the U.S. or eligible for a J-1 teaching visa (Bachelor’s degree + minimum of 3 years of recent teaching experience)
• Master’s degree in education preferred
• Proven experience in curriculum development and/or leadership roles
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
• Passionate about working with young children and fostering a love of learning
• Experience in international or bilingual schools and/or knowledge of the IB program is a strong plus
