The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the stewardship, safety, and security of all facilities throughout the year. The Maintenance Technician ensures that building codes and emergency procedures are reviewed, communicated, and followed. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting with the operation and the maintenance of all equipment in the facility. This equipment includes, but is not limited to all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, HVAC, vehicles, boilers, fire pumps, elevators, and lifts. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining an online work order system that tracks when facilities requests and maintenance projects are received, approved, assigned, initiated, and completed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform routine building maintenance, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, changing filters, and HVAC support.
Conduct regular inspections to identify repairs or safety hazards and report issues promptly.
Assist with interior and exterior upkeep such as painting, patching, and basic equipment installation.
Support facilities operations as needed, including cleaning common areas and restocking supplies.
Set up and break down rooms and spaces for events, meetings, and special programs (some weekends).
Follow all safety procedures and maintain compliance with facility regulations and standards.
Assist in emergency responses related to weather events, facility issues, or operational needs.
Maintain clean and organized storage areas, tools, and equipment.
Ability to operate maintenance and landscaping equipment safely and effectively.
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
Minimum Requirements
Education/Experience:
At least four years experience in facilities maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping, or related fields.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to operate specialized equipment including, but not limited to, hydraulic lifts.
Ability to work hands-on and to respond to emergencies, including after-hours.
Familiarity with and knowledge of the proper use of standard tools.
Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
Proficient with using computers and standard software applications.
Valid driver’s license; ability to perform physical work in varied conditions.
Strong physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work outdoors in various weather conditions, and perform manual labor.
