Fredericksburg Academy, the leading independent school in the Fredericksburg region, is seeking a full-time Upper School History Teacher beginning in August of 2026. Candidates should have a passion for supporting students to reach their full potential as students and citizens, a demonstrated desire for professional growth and a willingness to participate fully in the life of the school. Fredericksburg Academy provides students with the opportunity to prepare themselves for and apply to college in a demanding yet supportive environment while becoming independent learners within our challenging college-prep curriculum. The history portion covers Ancient World, Modern World, and AP World History for grades 9 and 10. Familiarity with the National History Day competition is important. Fredericksburg Academy students bring a laptop or tablet to school each day, so technological proficiency and demonstrated use of technology within the learning environment is preferred. Additional responsibilities include serving as an advisor to approximately 8 to 10 students and supporting co-curricular activities, preferably through coaching one of our athletic teams at the Middle School or Varsity level or advising other student-led clubs.

Bachelor’s degree in History, Education or similar area of study
Demonstrated success in classroom teaching or similar field of work
