Salary range is $83,000 - $147,000 annually ($466 - $825 per day) and will be based on experience and education.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Pinewood School seeks a History Teacher (Paternity Leave Coverage) to teach AP U.S. History, U.S. History, and American Government. This is a full-time, temporary position responsible for continuing established course plans, delivering engaging instruction, and maintaining accurate assessment and communication while the primary teacher is on leave. The ideal candidate brings strong content knowledge, clear classroom routines, and a student-centered, inclusive approach. This role is anticipated to start on February 1 and continue through April 3.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach AP US History, US History, and American Government (5 classes in total)
Develop effective instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students
Design and implement curriculum for a student-centered classroom
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected
Use technology effectively to communicate and to enhance teaching and learning experiences
Communicate effectively with parents on a regular basis regarding students’ needs and/or progress
Attend regular monthly faculty, grade level, and academic meetings
Participate in school events
Uphold and model Pinewood’s mission and WISCR’s: being well-rounded, an insightful and critical thinker, self-motivated, a clear communicator, and a respectful individual.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to spend long hours in stationary positions, using computers and office equipment
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally
Ability to reach out, stoop, kneel, crouch, occasionally to answer phones, maintain office equipment, retrieve items from overhead storage and carry files
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field is required. Master’s degree and/or a 7-12 teaching credential are desired.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in classroom teaching.
Experience teaching AP US History and American Government.
Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Ability to work with multiple constituencies with professionalism, empathy, humility, calm, and strategic direction- parents, teachers, students, outside specialists, and the administrative leadership team.
Passion for working with children ages 12-18 and their families, a commitment to lifelong learning, and investment in the growth and happiness of our students are essential.
