SUMMARY:
The Masters School is seeking a part-time library assistant to collaborate with the head librarian in advancing the vision for the school’s library program. The library assistant will oversee the library and work one-on-one with students and faculty seeking information and library resources, while supporting the head librarian in providing exciting new services and programs for the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises the library from 12:00pm to 4:45pm
- Creates a welcoming space while maintaining an appropriate library atmosphere by enforcing library rules and policies
- Provides circulation desk services, including greeting students, checking materials in and out, assisting students and faculty with finding print and electronic materials, and maintaining records in Destiny Library Manager
- Assists students with the printer and PaperCut printer management software
- Supervises student use of study rooms, coordinating reservations with event management software
- Performs administrative office tasks, including submitting invoices, picking up and sorting mail, and maintaining library files
- Creates book displays and assists with the promotion and management of library programs
- Assists librarian with collection development, including processing new library materials and creating book order lists
- Performs collection maintenance, including shelving library materials, tidying library shelves, weeding, and shelf reading
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Interest in working with children and adolescents
- Experience with office software, such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 programs
- Ability to troubleshoot office equipment, including computers and printers
- Ability and willingness to learn to use a variety of software solutions, including library management software, printer management software, event management software, Canva, etc.
- Sufficient understanding of Dewey Decimal Classification to allow for locating library materials, shelving, and shelf reading
- Library experience and experience creating promotional materials such as flyers, web content, or social media content preferred
- Desire to learn and grow professionally, a growth mindset
