Working closely with colleagues in the middle school and the mathematics department, this long-term substitute teacher will teach one section of Algebra A, two sections of Algebra B, and one section of Geometry to eighth-grade students. This individual will engage students in effective learning and use a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
A degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field is required
Classroom experience teaching math and a demonstrated passion for mathematics instruction
Understanding of the developmental needs of adolescents
Ability to differentiate instruction when necessary to reach all levels of learners
Readiness to integrate technology into the curriculum through the use of a computer, graphing calculators, and various online programs, such as Desmos
Willingness and availability to provide tutoring for students of all ranges and abilities during common work period times/office hours
Familiarity with NCTM’s Principles and Standards for School Mathematics and Jo Boaler’s research on math education
Proven positive working relationships with colleagues, students, and families
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
