Northfield Mount Hermon, an independent co-educational boarding school in western Massachusetts, seeks a dynamic individual to teach introductory and advanced biology courses in a program that fosters the process of scientific inquiry through a variety of instructional methods (including lectures, demonstrations, group problem solving, project-based learning, and laboratory experiments). Ability to teach Human Anatomy or at least one other discipline (physics or chemistry) in addition to biology is highly preferred. This position begins with the fall semester of the 2026-2027 academic year.
Responsibilities of the position include a combination of classroom teaching, student advising, resident dormitory supervision, and coaching or equivalents. Candidates are encouraged to include in their application experiences that may support our athletic and student life programs.
The successful applicant will have at least a bachelor’s degree in biology or experience teaching biology at the high school level. Preference may be given to candidates who also possess the ability to teach at the advanced level and/or have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds. Additional qualifications include strong interpersonal and communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, and knowledge of current teaching technologies.
Candidates must be familiar with boarding school life and have an interest in making a positive impact on the lives of adolescents. They will have demonstrated experience in equity and inclusion work that promotes a diverse community environment and a clear understanding of anti-bias education.
