Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K–12 independent school, is seeking a Full-Time Upper School Glass Teacher to begin in August 2026. We are looking for an individual with a background in an independent, public, private, or charter school, with classroom and studio experience teaching glass arts to upper school students (grades 9–12), and one or more degrees in Glass, Studio Art, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
The Glass Teacher will play a central role in instructing and developing a comprehensive glass program spanning introductory stained glass to intermediate and advanced hot glass processes, emphasizing both technical skill development and creative expression.
It is expected that a successful candidate would:
Teach four classes per semester ? Design and teach a vertically aligned glass curriculum starting with Level 1 stained glass and developing flame and advanced glassblowing opportunities. ? Demonstrate experience and knowledge in teaching stained glass techniques, including glass cutting, design, copper foil, and lead came ? Demonstrate experience and knowledge in teaching kiln-formed glass processes such as fusing, slumping, flame work, and glass blowing ? Demonstrate experience and knowledge in teaching glassblowing fundamentals and advanced techniques in a hot shop environment ? Emphasize studio safety, proper tool use, kiln operation, and hot shop protocols ? Differentiate instruction to support students with varied experience levels and artistic goals ? Meet regularly with the Visual Arts Chair to plan, implement, and reflect on existing and new curriculum ? Utilize appropriate educational technology and contemporary glass practices throughout instruction ? Create an inclusive studio environment that fosters open discussion, creative risk-taking, and the respectful exchange of ideas ? Participate in and initiate opportunities that demonstrate ongoing growth, artistic practice, and professional learning ? Be accessible to and communicate regularly with students and parents, including at the end of quarter and semester grading periods ? Serve as a faculty advisor to a group of students
Perform additional duties and participate actively in the life of the school, including advising a student activity, chaperoning events, supporting exhibitions, and attending student performances and events
Engage in professional and personal development with a consistent commitment to growth
Participate and initiate opportunities that demonstrate one's growth, knowledge, and skills
Perform additional supervision duties and participate in the life of the school by advising a club, chaperoning events, and attending student activities

COMPENSATION: Brentwood School's diverse and talented faculty ranges widely in experience level, from those new to teaching to veterans who are experts in their respective disciplines with 30+ years of experience. Our salary range, of $82,000 to $135,000, includes all levels of experience. Salaries are determined based on years of experience, education, full- or part-time status, and number of months worked per school year. Salary ranges do not include benefits i.e. 403b retirement matching, paid lunch time, free breakfast and lunch, free parking, subsidy toward medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D plans, and generous time off. The pay range is an estimate and is not guaranteed. If hired, your actual base salary will be determined by your education, experience, and schedule.
