Description
The Human Resources Manager position is a multifaceted role which provides employees of Fay School with the knowledge, information, and support needed for their success, while fostering a positive and inclusive environment. The Human Resources Manager’s leadership will prove essential in establishing and maintaining a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging at Fay School. Additional responsibilities include managing the School’s Wellness Committee, managing employee leaves; employee onboarding and offboarding; assisting with employee hiring tasks, including job posting and preparing employment offer letters; internal investigations; supervisor training; administering annual performance evaluations; and identifying and training future school leaders. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the processing of the School’s bi-weekly payroll for up to 225 regular and seasonal employees, administering the school’s benefit plans and performing human resource functions. The Human Resources Manager reports to the Assistant Head of School for Finance and Operations and is a member of the Business Office team.
Successful candidates will have outstanding organizational skills, strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and the ability to provide a welcoming atmosphere for employees as well as payroll processing skills, and a firm understanding of employment and payroll laws. Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment and resourcefulness. The ability to work independently is essential. The normal work schedule is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8:30am –4:30pm. This is an exempt 12-month, in-person position and is eligible for benefits.
Qualifications
Candidates must have prior experience in Human Resource management, a solid understanding of state and federal laws and claims administration. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and a SHRM Human Resource certification. Previous experience with payroll processing and benefit administration is preferred. Candidates must be able to work independently, be proactive, and prioritize effectively. Candidates should have a high level of comfort using payroll processing and HRIS systems must be proficient using Google Suite applications.
Responsibilities include:
Implementing the employee onboarding and offboarding process
Maintaining excellent relationships with employee benefits providers
Managing employee leaves of absence
Assisting with internal investigations
Implementing the annual employee evaluation program
Posting and managing staff position job postings and preparing employment offer letters
Implementing the annual process of employee re-appointments and compensation adjustments
Ensures the protection of employee records in accordance with the School’s policies
Provide supervisor training as well as identifying and training future school leadership
Ensuring legal compliance with all federal and state employment and payroll laws and best practices
Performing all payroll and employee benefits functions including accurately processing bi-weekly payroll and reporting
Maintaining accurate and organized payroll records, both electronic and physical, ensuring data integrity and security
Administering employee benefits including open enrollment
Promptly resolving payroll and benefit inquiries
Filing EEOC, OHSA, and PFML employee data to relevant agencies
Oversee planning and activities of the School’s Wellness Committee
Provide office and phone coverage when needed.
