Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of almost 1000 students located in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn in New York City. The Berkeley Carroll Lower School seeks a part-time Teaching Assistant (TA) for Movement for the 2025-26 school year. The TA must have an interest in movement, communicate with students in a developmentally appropriate way, and be comfortable collaborating with faculty to understand the unique needs of each grade level and class.
Responsibilities:
Supporting Dance and Physical Education instruction by providing supervision under the direction of the teacher that ensures the safety and engagement of all children in these physically active classes.
Assist with arrival, dismissal, and lunch coverage
Support with child care on Professional Development and Parent Conference days
Additional duties and responsibilities as needed
Requirements:
Applicants should have, or be in the process of attaining, a college degree
Experience in a school or camp setting working with school-aged children in a capacity that includes physical movement
Passion for movement
Ability to communicate with students in a developmentally appropriate way and build relationships quickly with students
Ability to collaborate with faculty to understand the unique needs of each grade level and class
