Position Summary
The Lower School First Grade Lead Teacher is responsible for delivering a developmentally appropriate, engaging, and rigorous academic program that supports students’ intellectual, social, and emotional growth. The ideal candidate will foster curiosity, a love of learning, and strong foundational skills across core subject areas while working collaboratively with colleagues and families.
Essential Functions
Collaborate closely with a grade-level teaching partner to design and implement lesson plans aligned with established curricular goals, and contribute to ongoing curriculum review and improvemen
Provide targeted support to individual students and differentiate instruction to meet a range of learning needs
Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments in reading and math to monitor student progress and ensure alignment with curricular standards; administer standardized assessments as required by the School
Work collaboratively with Lower School faculty, including specialist teachers, to support a cohesive and integrated educational experience
Maintain open and timely communication with parents regarding student progress, growth, and areas of concern
Maintain accurate attendance records and complete report cards in a timely manner
Participate in supervisory duties, including lunch, recess/playground, and carpool
Attend and support School events held after hours and on weekends
Attend and actively contribute to faculty meetings
Meet regularly with the Division Head and teaching partner to support planning, alignment, and professional growth
Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned by the Head of School
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education
Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience at the elementary grade level
Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with children, parents, and colleagues
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Elementary Education
