 Academic Head of School Position Description 
 St. George&#8217;s Independent School seeks an experienced, mission-driven, educational leader to serve as Academic Head of School. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for all academic and student life programs across PK-12th grade, ensuring excellence in teaching, learning, and student development. 
 Reporting to the Head of School and the Board of Trustees Academic Affairs Committee, the Academic Head of School partners closely with senior leadership to advance the school&#8217;s mission and strategic priorities. This leader cultivates a dynamic, inclusive and joyful learning community where students thrive academically, socially and emotionally, while faculty are supported, challenged, and developed. All Division Directors (Little Georgies, Lower, Middle, and Upper School), the Head of Student Affairs, and the Athletic Director will report directly to the Academic Head of School. Through these leaders, the role oversees all faculty, learning services, counseling, and student life personnel.

 Master&#8217;s degree required 
 Minimum of 10 years of educational leadership experience 
 Strong knowledge of academic best practices and curriculum design 
 Proven experience leading, coaching, and evaluating faculty and administrators 
 Demonstrated ability to design systems that advance institutional goals 
 Exceptional written and verbal communication skills 
 Leadership style grounded in empathy, integrity, collaboration, and accountability 
 An ability and passion to fully embrace the mission and vision of St. George&#8217;s Independent School 
 
 Key Responsibilities 
 &#xa0; Strategy &#38; Academic Vision 
 
 Lead schoolwide curriculum review and alignment across divisions and departments 
 Use academic data to strengthen instructional quality and student outcomes 
 Expand learning through innovative programming and strategic external partnerships 
 Collaborate with the Head of School and Board of Trustees on strategic planning and execution 
 
 
 Leadership &#38; Administration 
 
 
 Lead Division Directors, Academic Department Chairs, Learning Services Director, Head of Student Affairs, Director of Counseling, Athletic Director, and the Academic Affairs Committee 
 Oversee faculty recruitment, hiring, retention, evaluation, and professional development 
 Develop and manage academic and student life budgets in collaboration with school leadership 
 Approve and guide all course offerings across divisions 
 Design and implement a comprehensive PK&#8211;12 learning services strategy 
 Lead enrollment and re-enrollment decision-making alongside faculty and staff leadership 
 Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth 
 
 
 Presence &#38; Community Engagement 
 
 
 Maintain visible, relational leadership across campuses 
 Engage regularly with students, families, and faculty 
 Visit classrooms, events, and practices to support teaching and learning 
 Lead and participate in faculty and student life meetings 
 Support academic teams, fine arts, and athletic programs
