The anticipated salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for this position is based on an annual salary of $90K - $105K, prorated based on duration of the coverage, and dependent on factors such as experience and education. The Carey School, a Preschool-5th grade independent school in San Mateo, California seeks an experienced Learning Specialist or Educational Therapist to serve as a member of our Student Support Team for a 2025-2026 parental leave position. This professional will provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions for Kindergarten and 1st-grade students using evidence-based methodologies and assessments, delivered through small group instruction, one-on-one support, and in-class push-in services. This position reports directly to the Student Services Coordinator and the Director of Studies and requires collaboration and ongoing communication with the Student Support Team as well as with homeroom and specialist teachers to meet the needs of a diverse student body by way of a strengths-based approach.
The ideal candidate possesses confidence and experience in providing math, writing, and reading intervention and has particular experience with lower elementary grades. The ideal candidate will have past classroom teaching experience and a strong understanding of the child developmental stages and a commitment to professional development and research-based practices. Knowledge and background experience with intervention methodologies including Slingerland, Wilson, Orton-Gillingham or Lindamood-Bell is required.
