Supervisor: Head of Upper School

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Position Status:  Salaried, Exempt, Full-time, 10-month

Work Hours: Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some weekend and evening work may be required. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teaches two sections in our Upper School Math program that start with Geometry and progress through Calculus and beyond
• Co-teaches a 3-week immersive, interdisciplinary class during Jan Term
• Collaborates with other Upper School Math teachers as part of a math PLC (Professional Learning Community)
• Advises students as part of the Upper School Advisory Program
• Contributes to the larger school community through coaching or sponsoring extracurricular programs
• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for a successful candidate.

• Strong background in mathematics, with a Bachelor’s in Mathematics, highly preferred.  M.A. in Math and/or professional or practical experience in a related field is valued but not required.
• Two years of Upper School teaching experience preferred but not required
• Ability to teach many, if not all, Upper School math courses from Geometry to Multivariable Calculus. Experience and/or willingness to teach AP Statistics is a plus.
• Experience with a one-to-one laptop environment and its appropriate use to enhance, explore, and support mathematics teaching is required, including TI-Nspire, TI-CAS graphing calculators, and computer software to support the teaching and learning of algebraic & graphical concepts.
