About The Adelson School:

The Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Institute (The Adelson School) is dedicated to inspiring and educating the next generation of students by drawing strength from a rich Jewish heritage. Position Summary: full-time K–5 substitute

This role offers a unique opportunity to be an integral and consistent member of our Lower School faculty. The successful candidate will support and facilitate academic learning by implementing a dynamic, standards-based curriculum across grade levels as needed. As a daily presence in our community, the substitute will lead whole and small group instruction, address individual student needs, and create a welcoming classroom environment where all students feel safe to take risks and grow.

Collaboration with grade-level teams, specialists, and administration is essential in supporting student success and maintaining instructional continuity. This position is ideal for an educator who is flexible, proactive, and committed to being a trusted and engaged part of our school community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging instruction across grade levels using provided lesson plans.
• Create a welcoming, supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and curiosity.
• Adapt easily to different classroom settings, teaching styles, and student needs.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with students and staff.
• Support the academic and emotional well-being of all students.
• Promote a safe and inclusive learning space by modeling and reinforcing school expectations.
• Collaborate closely with grade-level teams, specialists, and administrators to maintain continuity and care in instruction.
• Communicate clearly and thoughtfully with classroom teachers about daily highlights and any follow-up needed.
• Supervise and engage with students during transitions, lunch, and recess in a supportive and friendly manner.
• Step in with flexibility and a can-do spirit wherever help is needed throughout the school day.
• Approach each day as a valued and integral member of the faculty, contributing to the joy and success of the school community.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field.
• Experience: Teaching experience in an elementary school setting preferred.
• Skills & Knowledge:
  • Understanding of developmental stages and learning needs of early elementary students.
  • Experience integrating technology into the classroom.
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture, traditions, and values.
  • Familiarity with Responsive Classroom.
• Personal Qualities: Ability to work collaboratively, demonstrate creativity, and maintain strong organizational skills. A positive attitude and a strong work ethic are essential.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform duties that may include standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling as needed.
