Bring your passion for classical languages, inquiry-driven teaching, and student mentorship to St. Mark’s as we inspire students to engage deeply with the ancient world and its enduring influence on contemporary life.
Why Join Us
At St. Mark’s, we believe the study of classical languages and cultures develops intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the human experience. Our classrooms encourage students to wrestle with ideas, communicate thoughtfully, and build confidence as learners and community members.
Teaching here is more than what happens in the classroom. As a faculty member, you’ll also serve as an advisor, coach, and mentor, helping students navigate school, discover new interests, and grow into their best selves. Our community thrives on collaboration and connection, and we’re looking for educators who are excited to engage fully in all aspects of residential school life.
Housing may be available for this position.

Reporting to the Head of the Modern and Classical Languages Department and the Assistant Head of School/Dean of Faculty, the Classics Teacher serves as a key member of the St. Mark’s community.
You will:
Teach introductory through advanced levels of Latin and/or Greek to students in grades 9 through 12
Design engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support a diverse community of learners
Foster students’ growth as readers, writers, thinkers, and communicators through meaningful feedback and active classroom engagement
Collaborate with department colleagues on curriculum development, course design, and innovative teaching practices
Serve as an advisor and mentor, supporting students academically and personally throughout their St. Mark’s experience
Engage fully in community life: coaching two seasons of co-curriculars, participating in weekend activities and events, and more
Working thoughtfully with students and colleagues in ways that strengthen the inclusive and relational culture of the School
Why You’ll Love It Here
A welcoming, close-knit community of students and colleagues who value curiosity, collaboration, and connection
Comprehensive benefits, including meals, health coverage, and tuition remission. Housing may be available for this position.

St. Mark's School is a coed, private boarding high school of approximately 375 students with a strong, college preparatory curriculum located 22 miles west of Boston and 12 miles east of Worcester. St. Mark's School educates young people for lives of leadership and service. Founded in 1865 as an intentionally small residential community, the School challenges its students to develop their particular analytic and creative capabilities by both inspiring their academic and spiritual curiosity and kindling their passion for discovery. We value cooperation over self-interest, and we encourage all members of our community to explore their place in the larger world beyond our campus.
St. Mark’s School provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, sex, sexual orientation, disability or genetics, and any other characteristic or status protected by law. This commitment is exemplified in numerous ways, such as our welcoming Chapel program, our Pathways Program which houses multiple student-centered affinity spaces, and the intersectional work within our office of Communit...y and Equity and Global Studies programs. The School values flexible educators who possess an optimistic, growth-oriented mindset regarding learning, both for themselves and their students.
