CHEMISTRY TEACHER (starting 26-27 school year)
School setting: Blair Academy is a co-educational, grade 9-12/postgraduate boarding school situated on 463 hilltop acres just minutes from the Delaware Water Gap and approximately one hour west of New York City. Position available: Blair Academy announces an opening for a chemistry teacher. We are searching for an enthusiastic, student-centered and collegial educator who will share in the responsibility of ensuring that our teaching of chemistry at Blair is inquiry-based, appropriately challenging and cohesive with the other science classes in our sequence.
The strongest applicants will have the following qualifications:
- A love for the subject of chemistry and drive to inspire that passion in students;
- Interest in lab-based, inquiry driven, hands-on and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching chemistry;
- An interest in teaching students of all levels, from the introductory level through advanced;
- A BA/BS in chemistry and/or an advanced degree in a related field
- A strong commitment to collaborating with colleagues to create curricular materials; and
- A versatile background in science with the ability to teach other subjects if needed.

Typical job responsibilities include:
- Teaching four sections each semester;
- Coaching or assisting with a sport for two seasons or with activities for three seasons;
- Advising a group of six; and
- Providing weekly supervision for boarding students during some evening and weekend hours.
Salary & other compensation: Base pay range is $45,000 to $75,000. Salary is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to education and experience. Other compensation based on assigned job duties may include a stipend for dormitory work and other responsibilities not stated herein.
