Rudolf Steiner School seeks a full time Athletics Director and PE Teacher beginning July 1, 2026. Rudolf Steiner is a Nursery-12th grade co-ed school in Manhattan and was founded nearly 100 years ago as the first Waldorf School in North America. This 10-month role is benefits-eligible.
Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all aspects of the school’s athletics program for grades 7–12.
Schedule and coordinate practices, games, and tournaments across all sports teams.
Hire, supervise, and support coaching staff; facilitate onboarding and professional development.
Serve as the primary liaison with league partners (ISAL and other independent school leagues in the NYSAIS conference).
Manage the athletics budget, equipment, and uniforms.
Oversee athletics communications to students, families, and faculty via multiple platforms.
Organize and lead seasonal recognition ceremonies, team meetings, and special events.
Ensure compliance with league regulations, safety protocols, and school policies.
Develop, maintain and grow partnerships with other facilities, communities, and brands.
Teach one 90-minute PE class each day to students in 7th-12 grades, with curriculum based on Waldorf education principles for middle and high school students that promote movement, skill development, fitness, and joy in physical activity.
Assess and report on student progress.
Foster an inclusive, supportive environment where all students can thrive regardless of athletic ability.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience as an Athletics Director or Assistant Athletics Director preferred.
Salary Range: $75,000-$95,000
