Position: Middle and/or High School Science Teacher
Reports to: Head of School
Location: Chester, PA

Position Summary:

YSC Academy seeks a dynamic and innovative Science Teacher to deliver engaging instruction in middle and/or high school science courses (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science). The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep content knowledge, a passion for adolescent development, and a growth mindset aligned with the school’s mission.

Core Responsibilities:

• Design and teach science courses with an emphasis on inquiry, experimentation, and real-world application
• Create flexible, self-paced modules for Advantage (virtual/hybrid) learners.
• Develop project-based and hands-on learning opportunities in line with NGSS and PA state standards.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary units and connect science content with global, athletic, and social context.
• Foster curiosity and critical thinking, while providing personalized feedback
• Support student-athletes balancing demanding schedules by offering structured and flexible learning environment.s
• Serve as a mentor and advocate for assigned students, providing academic and social-emotional guidanc.e

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline required; advanced degree preferred
• Middle and/or high school teaching experience preferred
• Familiarity with the adolescent brain and social-emotional development
• Ability to integrate technology, including LMS (Canvas), lab simulations, and data-driven tools
• Passion for working with student-athletes and contributing to a values-based school culture
• Commitment to innovation and continuous improvement
• Ability to design and implement standards-aligned curriculum (NGSS, PA)
