Position Summary:
Virginia Episcopal School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Tennis Coach for the 2026 spring season academic year to help cultivate a competitive and character-driven tennis program. This role may also include teaching responsibilities, involvement in residential life, and active participation in the broader boarding school community. The ideal candidate will serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, uphold the mission and values of the school, and contribute to building an inclusive team culture rooted in the school's guiding principle of "Toward Full Stature."
Primary Responsibilities:
Coaching
Assist the Head Coach with daily practices, match preparation, lineups, and player development.
Support technical skill development, match strategy, and competitive readiness with an emphasis on long-term growth and college placement.
Mentor student-athletes in goal setting, accountability, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Assist with match supervision, travel logistics, equipment management, and scheduling.
Support recruiting and college-placement efforts, including collaboration with the Admissions and College Counseling Offices.
Uphold and advance the mission, values, and high standards of Virginia Episcopal School.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Previous coaching or competitive playing experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level strongly preferred.
Understanding of the high school and college tennis landscape and recruitment process is a plus.
Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with student-athletes in a demanding academic environment.
Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and development-focused team culture.
Availability for afternoon practices, matches, and occasional weekends.
Compensation and Benefits
Part-time or seasonal appointment aligned with the tennis season.
Stipend commensurate with experience.
