Position Summary
Montclair Kimberley Academy (MKA), an innovative PK – 12 independent day school with a strong national reputation,seeks innovative and enthusiastic teachers to design and deliver engaging summer programming for middle school students.
The Summer Academic Enrichment Program offers middle school students an engaging, hands-on learning experience that blends academic growth with creativity, curiosity, and summer fun. Our instructors design and lead dynamic courses that spark student interest, build foundational skills, and foster a supportive classroom environment. We are seeking passionate, student-centered educators who bring enthusiasm, expertise, and a collaborative spirit to our summer learning community.
Create a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, collaboration, and joyful learning
Differentiate instruction to support a range of learning styles and skill levels
Create and submit a supply list (within budget) to the Director of Summer Operations by May 1, 2026.
Teach the summer schedule for your class
o 85-min class period, 5 days/week. You can choose the time frame best for you.
Period 1: 9 AM - 10:25 AM
Period 2: 10:35- 12:00 PM
Period 3: 12:35 PM- 2 PM
Provide engaging communications to families about daily activities and student progress.
Attend pre-program orientation on June 18, 2026
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a related field.
Prior teaching experience with middle school students (classroom, enrichment, or summer program).
Availability for the full program dates (Aug. 3-7, 2026 and/or Aug. 10-14, 2026), including June 18 orientation.
Participation in planning meetings with the Director of Summer Operations during the school year, to support and approve your curriculum.
Strong content knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject area you want to teach.
Demonstrated ability to design creative, student-centered lessons and activities
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and encouraging classroom culture
Flexibility, reliability, and a positive approach to problem-solving
Preferred
Advanced degree in Education, or related field.
Experience designing curriculum or project-based learning experiences.
CPR/First Aid certification.
