Position Title: Wind Ensemble Teacher/Conductor (Grades 4–5)
Location: The Allen-Stevenson School, New York, NY
Schedule: Part-Time, Wednesdays and Fridays, 7:45–8:30 AM

Overview:
The Allen-Stevenson School, an esteemed K–8 boys’ school in New York City, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Wind Ensemble Teacher/Conductor to lead our 4th and 5th-grade wind ensemble. This part-time role is ideal for an educator passionate about early instrumental instruction and ensemble leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and conduct engaging ensemble rehearsals twice weekly, focusing on foundational ensemble skills and musicianship.
Select an age-appropriate repertoire that aligns with students’ skill levels and promotes musical growth.
Collaborate with the music department to coordinate performances and integrate ensemble activities into the broader music curriculum.
Provide constructive feedback to students, fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and upcoming performances.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Performance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Proficiency in wind instruments and percussion, with a strong understanding of ensemble pedagogy for young learners.
Previous experience teaching elementary or middle school students in a group setting.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to inspire and motivate young musicians, cultivating a love for music and ensemble performance.
Salary/Compensation: $150/hour
