Part-time 10th Grade History Teacher
We are seeking applicants to join our team who are comfortable and confident teaching 10th grade history.
The ideal candidate has a strong desire to work closely with adolescents and develop meaningful relationships with them. This person has an extensive knowledge of and passion for history, a commitment to improving both content and instructional quality, and the experience to offer authentic exposure in the classroom and beyond
As a member of our history department and the JHCS faculty, our ideal candidate works collaboratively with colleagues and aims to instill habits of critical thinking and communication through the development of inquiry and reasoning skills that students will draw upon in college and in life. The ideal candidate uses several pedagogical modalities to teach the content and develop essential skills including the analysis of primary and secondary sources, discussion facilitation, the use of visual tools, and other teaching methodologies that reach different students.
Other responsibilities of a part-time teacher include:
Proactive and timely communication with colleagues, parents, and students
Attending occasional evening/weekend school events
Attending meetings that are relevant to the 10th grade curriculum or student experience.
Minimum requirements include:
A Bachelor’s degree in history or a related field; Master’s is preferred
At least 2 years experience working with high school students
Ability to teach using a variety of pedagogical modalities
