The School Counselor position is part-time. The Counselor provides support for the emotional, social, and psychological development and well-being of York students, primarily by offering a safe and confidential relationship for students and parents to discuss issues important to adolescent life. The Counselor is responsible for assessing student needs and providing appropriate feedback and recommendations to families and faculty to ensure students are appropriately supported. This is a 10-month position and reports to the Director of Student Life.
The School Counselor must possess a current mental health license to practice psychotherapy. The successful candidate should be self-directed, collaborative, have experience working in a school setting and with extensive experience with teens. The School Counselor should be comfortable with public speaking and working with a wide range of constituents at the school as well as interacting with outside mental health providers. Essential qualifications also include:
Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field
Active California license in a mental health profession (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC)
Experience as a school counselor in a high school setting or with adolescents
