 Position: 
 The duties and responsibilities of the Controller include: 
 
 Manage the month-end close process, including preparing, posting, and reviewing journal entries, reconciling the general ledger, and managing the chart of accounts. Prepare monthly Cash Flow summaries and financial reports for Board meetings in support of the CFO. 
 Oversee accounts payable, bank reconciliations, deposits, cash receipts, and petty cash. 
 Serve as the school&#39;s primary liaison with the external audit firm; own the preparation of audit materials, final journal entries, and reconciliation to Rumsey&#39;s trial balance. Monitor restricted gifts and expenses and prepare year-end journal entries and reports for audit. Coordinate all reports required for annual Form 990/990T tax filings. 
 Reconcile tuition aging monthly and prepare Billing Management journal entries for export. Review aging reports with the Student Billing Coordinator and communicate with parents regarding student spending accounts and billing matters. Assist with tuition refund insurance withdrawal claims and calculate enrollment contract figures for mid-year start dates. 
 Reconcile donations bi-weekly with the Advancement Office to ensure Financial Edge and Raisers Edge are aligned. 
 Submit student lists for health, accident, and extended health insurance enrollment. Prepare contract packets for laundry, accident, tuition refund, and student health insurance; update the explanation of fees. 
 Support miscellaneous projects as requested by the CFO. 
 
 Compensation and Benefits: 
 &#xa0; Salary range of $85,000&#8211;$110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. 
 
 Tuition remission for dependent children enrolled at Rumsey Hall School. 
 Health insurance coverage (medical) for the employee and eligible dependents. 
 Paid time off and school holidays. 
 
 &#xa0; Required Qualifications: 
 
 Bachelor&#39;s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 7&#8211;10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a school or nonprofit setting. 
 Demonstrated ability to own the full accounting cycle and produce financial statements independently, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Docs. 
 Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership, parents, and colleagues across departments. 
 Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, work both independently and collaboratively, and maintain strict confidentiality.

 Kingswood Oxford offers a competitive salary range of  $100,000 &#8211; $120,000 , commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. 
 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
 
 Direct the School&#8217;s accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, cash receipts, and account reconciliations. 
 Establish and oversee monthly financial closing process, including producing accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external constituents. 
 Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. 
 Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial procedures. 
 Oversee and direct the external audit process, including planning and coordination with external auditors, as well as preparation of various supporting schedules and reconciliations. 
 Responsible for coordinating and compiling all information required for preparation of annual tax returns and other regulatory reporting requirements. Prepare and coordinate the annual financial statements and related schedules for the School&#8217;s retirement plan, ensuring timely completion of the annual audit and filings 
 Ensure compliance with payroll tax reporting and applicable employment regulations. 
 Oversee and support the annual budget development and monitoring process, ensuring adherence to departmental operating budgets and institutional financial guidelines. 
 Work collaboratively with department heads on budget development and expense management. 
 Support forecasting, financial modeling, and long-range planning initiatives. 
 Assist the CFOO in the direction and management of the School&#8217;s treasury activities, including oversight of cash and investment accounts, as well as managing draws and repayments on the School&#8217;s line of credit, as appropriate. 
 In connection with the Director of Enrollment Management and CFOO, develop the institutional financial aid budget, including the management and allocation of financial aid to new and returning students. 
 Provide oversight of student billing, collections, and financial aid accounting processes. 
 Assist in developing financial aid packaging strategies that optimize the use of need-based aid to achieve enrollment goals. 
 Work closely with Institutional Advancement Office to reconcile gift receipts and donor fund balances. 
 
 
 Prepare and maintain endowment and investment unitization schedules for internal and external financial statements. 
 Maintain appropriate documentation and record retention policies. 
 Partner with School leadership to ensure operational efficiency and financial transparency. 
 Supervise and mentor Business Office staff. 
 Support a positive, service-oriented culture within the School community. 
 Other duties as assigned. 
 
 Qualifications: 
 
 Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and internal controls. 
 Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and audit coordination. 
 Familiarity with independent school operations and tuition-based financial models preferred. 
 Proficiency with financial systems including Microsoft Office applications. 
 Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization. 
 Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

 SUMMARY 
 Reporting to the Director of Finance/Controller, the Accounting Manager / Controller is a hands-on finance professional who brings energy, initiative, and innovation to a complex boarding school environment. This role oversees the day-to-day accounting operations, ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supports financial sustainability. They will play a key role in managing the general ledger, supervising/supporting accounting staff, contributing to audits and compliance, and leading continual improvement of systems and processes, including budget management and financial reporting.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
 General Ledger Management : Maintenance and ownership of the accuracy of the general ledger and month-end, quarter, and year-end close processes. Review and manage journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance investigations. Set up and manage GL accounts, funds, projects, and events as needed. 
 Financial Operations &#38; Treasury Support : Ownership of cash flow forecasting and daily treasury operations. Approve wire transfers, ACH transactions, and payment templates. Provide oversight and support for purchasing and inventory processes in collaboration with relevant departments. 
 Financial Audit and Form 990 Preparation Support : Assist in coordinating and preparing for the annual audit, ensuring timely completion of all audit schedules and supporting documentation. Assist with IRS Form 990 preparation, state filings, and other compliance reporting. Help ensure strong internal controls are in place and functioning effectively. 
 Gift and Fund Management:  Support monthly reconciliation of charitable giving gifts, monitor the endowment tracking system (e.g., Fundriver), and manage the due to/from activity between operating cash and endowment. Oversee the quarterly reconciliations of Charitable Remainder Trusts, Pooled Investment Funds. 
 Programmatic Support:  Coordinate and work with staff accountants regarding auxiliary programs, student travel activities, and employee and student credit/debit card transactions. 
 Process Improvement and System Integrations : Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and support the implementation of system enhancements. Support the implementation of new financial technologies and reporting tools. Ensure accuracy between financial systems, such as the general ledger, credit cards, employee reimbursements, and procurement. 
 Internal Policies and Compliance:  Contribute to the creation and refinement of internal policies and procedures. Provide training and guidance to ensure school-wide compliance. 
 Team Supervision and Development:  Supervise and support the 5-member accounting and purchasing team. Provide training, performance feedback, and mentorship to support professional growth. Foster a collaborative and accountable culture within the business office. 
 Perform additional duties  as assigned by the Director of Finance/Controller. 
 QUALIFICATIONS: 
 
 Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Accounting is highly preferred. 
 Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in an independent school environment and/or in non-profit accounting. 
 Prior supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team. 
 Strong working knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards. 
 Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy. 
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders to build rapport and trust. 
 Demonstrated ability to think analytically and strategically, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously, prioritizing appropriately.
