								<description>Litchfield, Connecticut,  The Forman School is an independent co-ed boarding and day college preparatory school for students in grades 9-12-PG who have identified learning differences. We provide nursing care in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion. This role will include, but is not limited to: assessment, planning, implementation, student evaluation, plan of care, medication administration, and providing a safe and warm environment for students. 
 Full Time:  40 hours/week&#xa0; (Hours 2:30-10:30 p.m., includes some weekends) 
 Specific Duties and Responsibilities include: 
 
 Perform all nursing duties in accordance with the Connecticut State Nursing Act while adhering to all facility policies and procedures 
 Administer daily controlled and non?controlled medications as prescribed. 
 Provide emergency care to students while on campus as outlined in nursing protocol, using nursing assessment skills 
 Monitor patient progress and identify any changes in status, acting on those changes to ensure patient safety and comfort 
 Thorough documentation all nursing visits and follow up care provided for admissions or temporary admissions 
 Accountability and responsibility for each student admitted until transfer of patient care or shift change&#xa0; 
 Perform routine nursing care, while using age-specific and universal precaution practices at all times 
 Communicate with Forman School colleagues, students/patients, and their families as appropriate, with excellent written and verbal communication skills 
 Punctual and dependable&#xa0; 
 Be able to keep up in a fast-paced work environment 
 Collaborate with all members of the healthcare team, faculty, and athletic trainers as needed 
 May require transportation of students to and from appointments. PSL must be obtained within 6 months of hire. 
 Maintain active CT registered nursing&#xa0; license and current BLS certification 
 
 &#xa0; Physical Requirements: 
 The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job: 
 
 &#xa0;Must be physically able to respond to any emergency within the Health Center or outside of the Health Center, including moving a patient if deemed necessary&#xa0; 
 standing for prolonged periods of time, some lifting  
 
 Qualifications: 
 Associates or Bachelors degree in nursing&#xa0; 
 2 years of related experience preferred 
 
 Provides the highest level of nursing care for all students/patients 
 Demonstrates excellent communication skills 
 Demonstrates a caring and compassionate attitude 
 Possess a high degree of professionalism&#xa0;

 Position Summary&#xa0; The School Nurse will support the health and well-being of students in grades K&#8211;6 while fostering a safe, nurturing learning environment. They will manage acute and chronic conditions and partner with families and healthcare providers in accordance with the School&#39;s mission, goals, and objectives, as well as all applicable local and state mandates. Qualifications 
 
 Licensure &#38; Education: 
 
 Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in Connecticut. 
 Must meet the educational criteria for a School Nurse per the Connecticut Department of Public Health. 
 Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Nursing (BSN) is strongly preferred. 
 
 Certification &#38; Experience: 
 
 Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification. 
 Previous experience in school nursing, pediatrics, or emergency room care is strongly preferred. 
 
 Skills: 
 
 Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. 
 Technology skills, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and Google Workspace. 
 Commitment to diversity and inclusion. 
 Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform CPR. 
 
 
 Performance Responsibilities 
 
 Clinical Care &#38; Emergencies: 
 
 Provide nursing care and first aid for sudden illnesses or injuries, including initiating emergency interventions for students and staff. 
 Maintain accurate electronic health records, including daily visits and incident reports. 
 Administer prescribed medications according to state regulations. 
 Develop, implement, and update Individualized Health Care Plans (IHCPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs) for students with chronic conditions. 
 Collect, maintain, and verify mandatory confidential student health records, ensuring compliance with immunization and health form requirements. 
 
 Compliance, Screening, &#38; Infection Control: 
 
 Perform, evaluate, and document annual state-mandated screenings. 
 Identify, monitor, and manage communicable diseases. 
 
 Education &#38; Collaboration: 
 
 Educate school staff annually on health conditions, procedures, and the use of emergency medications. 
 Delegate nursing tasks to designated Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) according to state regulations. 
 Provide health-related classroom instruction as needed. 
 Serve on the school Safety Committee, assist in forming evidence-based health policies. 
 
 Administrative: 
 
 Report to the Director of Operations and Finance 
 Attend staff meetings and scheduled school events. 
 Adhere to all policies specified by the Board of Trustees.
