Oxbridge Academy seeks to hire a full-time, experienced 2D & 3D Art Teacher. Employee is responsible for understanding the Mission, Vision, Core Values, Employee Handbook, and other school policies of Oxbridge Academy, and ensuring the adherence of these policies in job performance, action, and self-conduct. The Oxbridge faculty members create and manage a variety of learning environments and activities that provide opportunities for students to achieve their learning objectives and develop to their fullest potential.
Tasks/Essential Functions:
Primary teaching responsibilities include delivering instruction for beginning through advanced level courses in 2D Art, digital art, and foundational 3D concepts. Areas of focus may include drawing, painting, printmaking, digital art, mixed-media work, sculpture, and both hand-built and wheel-thrown ceramics. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for maintaining a safe, well-organized studio environment that may encompass a ceramics workspace, wood shop, kiln room, digital workstations, project storage, and outdoor work areas.
Work with individual students and groups of students in planned, interactive, hands-on visual art classes primarily in the Middle School, as well as in the Upper School.
Engage in and create events that connect visual arts students to the community including exhibitions, showcases, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Communicate both concrete and abstract visual arts concepts to students.
Prepare learning activities in an environment that fosters collaboration, inquiry, innovation, and personal discovery. Model artistic curiosity, creativity, and an enthusiasm for both traditional and emerging art practices.
Provide meaningful feedback on both formative and summative assignments.
Adapt and differentiate teaching methods and instructional material to meet students varying needs, abilities, and interests.
Demonstrate a willingness to collaborate within the department, school community, and greater community on multidisciplinary projects and initiatives.
Collaborate regularly with colleagues in the Fine Arts Department on curriculum alignment, interdisciplinary units, and shared events.
Maintain accurate and complete student records in the current student information system as required by law, policies, and administrative regulations.
Observe students in a variety of educational environments and evaluate their academic performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
Establish and enforce rules for behavior, cultivating Oxbridge’s core values of kindness, courtesy, integrity, respect, and compassion.
Advise a group of students and keep parents and legal guardians informed about student progress.
Pursue relevant professional development to maintain expertise in subject matter, curriculum development, and teaching methods.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in a related field preferred.
Strong knowledge of both 2D and 3D Art practices, including drawing, painting, printmaking, digital art, mixed media, mixed-media sculpture, foundational 3D concepts, and ceramics.
An existing portfolio of student work produced in classes that you instructed.
Demonstrated success teaching middle and/or high school students in a studio-based visual arts environment.
At least three years of relevant classroom teaching experience. Ability to work well with students, parents, colleagues, and all members of the Oxbridge community.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate improved learning, habits, and measurements of achievement.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse artistic voices and learning styles.
A collaborative, flexible, and creative approach to teaching and curriculum design.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment.
