Calvert School offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Salaries for teachers are based on years of teaching experience, education, and job-related responsibilities. The salary range for teachers is $50,000 to $70,000 and candidates with additional teaching experience and/or advanced degrees may receive a higher salary. Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, has an opening for a full-time Math Teacher for its Middle School for the 2026-27 school year. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland. The campus is easily accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
The Math Teacher will teach seventh and eighth grade students. Students at Calvert are placed in developmentally appropriate groups. Students in Algebra I will master the solutions of more complex equations and the graphing of polynomial functions will be introduced. Students are exposed to Geometry and they use technology and real-world problem scenarios to explore mathematical concepts.
Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging math lessons aligned with school curriculum.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Use a variety of instructional strategies and assessment tools to monitor student progress.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning.
Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school events. Serve on school committees on occasion.
Serve as an academic advisor and contribute to the Calvert community as field trip leader, coach, and club advisor.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field and a Master’s degree in Education or Mathematics strongly preferred.
Experience teaching 7th and/or 8th grade math (Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry).
Strong classroom management and instructional technology skills.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate an ability to inspire and support students and must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
