Bullis School seeks a Middle School Language Arts Teacher to contribute to our vibrant learning community for the 2025-26 academic year. Candidates should be capable of teaching a wide range of learners with a specific focus on implementing a robust and engaging curriculum in language arts focused on developing strong skills, habits, and personal identities in reading and writing. This position involves teaching five classes, as well as co-curricular activities, including advising eight to twelve students.
The Bullis Middle School cultivates independence and leadership in a supportive academic environment. Teachers create the conditions for discovery both inside and outside of the classroom, supporting and encouraging students to take risks, collaborate, and explore. Middle School teachers are fully invested in all students' growth mindset by engaging in events, clubs, and other opportunities that go beyond the classroom. Successful Middle School teachers at Bullis are committed to ongoingprofessional development and a wide range of teaching approaches to reach a diverse student population. In line with the school’s culture of innovation and a student-centered approach, curriculum development and lesson design are continuous endeavors and an opportunity to work in subject- as well as grade-aligned teams. The Middle School Language Arts program is focused on developing and establishing student reading habits and incorporates research-based components to engage and support the growth of their reading identity. Additionally, students develop writing proficiency in multiple genres as they learn to revise their writing for appropriate audiences, support their claims with evidence, improve syntax, and deepen their confidence in the application of conventions.

Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in English Language Arts, Humanities, or related field
Minimum of two years prior teaching experience
Preferred
Master’s Degree in English Language Arts, Humanities or related field
Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment
Teaching certificates are not required
