Position Overview
Learning Courage is seeking an Associate Consultant to help expand the reach and capacity of our organization. This role is ideal for an experienced independent school professional who brings strategic thinking, strong relational skills, and a commitment to student safety and wellbeing.
The Associate Consultant will support and co-lead school assessments, contribute to strategic planning, develop and deliver workshops, and help design tools and resources that equip schools to address sexual misconduct and abuse both proactively and in response to incidents. You will work closely with Learning Courage team members to expand program offerings.
Key Responsibilities
School Assessments & Consulting
Participate in on-site school assessment processes, including pre-visit planning and post-visit debriefs.
Assess school policies, procedures, and practices related to sexual misconduct, student safety, and wellbeing.
Draft clear, actionable assessment reports and individualized action plans tailored to each school’s needs.
Support ongoing follow-up with schools as they implement recommendations.
Engage in conversations with a variety of school stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, leadership, alumni, and parents) on a range of topics from crisis response to policy, culture change, and community care.
Guide schools in responding to reports of sexual misconduct, past and present, in alignment with Learning Courage’s survivor-centered and trauma-informed approach.
Training, Programs & Resources
Design and deliver trainings and workshops for employees, students, and parents.
Help expand Learning Courage’s program offerings and resource library.
Strategic & Organizational Contributions
Participate in internal team meetings and contribute to the strategic direction of the organization.
Support recruiting and onboarding of new member schools and other youth-serving organizations.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
At least 10 years of independent school work experience, with a demonstrated commitment to mental health and wellbeing.
Experience in school leadership roles (e.g., division head, dean, counselor, department chair, or equivalent).
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in school communities.
Excellent organizational, collaborative, interpersonal, and communication skills—both written and verbal. Ability to work as a self-starter, manage multiple projects, and contribute effectively in a small, highly collaborative team.
Comfortable facilitating conversations on sensitive topics with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
Preferred
Knowledge of trauma and trauma-informed care.
Experience working with survivors of sexual misconduct or other forms of harm.
Experience designing and delivering training or curriculum related to social-emotional learning, prevention, or community norms.
