Rocky Hill Country Day School seeks a Camp Director to lead Summer by the Bay, our vibrant program for students entering nursery through grade 12.
This role calls for a leader who will shape every aspect of the camp experience: building and mentoring a talented staff team, designing engaging programs that spark curiosity and joy, maintaining the highest standards of safety and care, managing resources thoughtfully, and fostering meaningful connections with families.
The ideal candidate will bring both vision and practical expertise to create a summer environment where young people thrive. You'll ensure that Summer by the Bay embodies the distinctive spirit and values that have defined Rocky Hill for generations, while crafting experiences that children will remember long after summer ends.
Position Summary
The Summer Camp Director provides comprehensive leadership and management for Summer by the Bay, at Rocky Hill Country Day School’s summer camp program for students entering grades Nursery–12. This position oversees all aspects of camp operations, including staffing, programming, safety compliance, budgeting, and parent communication.
The Director ensures that the program reflects the schools centered mission and motto of Know Thyself, values, and standards of Rocky Hill Country Day School while creating a safe, engaging, and enriching experience for all participants.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a seasonal, exempt position with a competitive salary dependent on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and manage all facets of the summer camp program, including scheduling, curriculum coordination, and daily operations.
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate seasonal staff, ensuring adherence to school and state regulations. Develop and monitor program budgets in collaboration with the Director of Community Partnerships. Oversee camper registration, enrollment management, and weekly newsletter communication with families.
Implement and maintain all health, safety, and risk management protocols in alignment
with school policies. Serve as the primary on-site administrator during camp sessions, addressing operational needs and family, staff and other key members' concerns promptly.
Coordinate training and orientation courses prior to camp for counselors/instructors. Promote a positive, inclusive environment that supports the social, emotional, and developmental growth of campers.
Qualifications
Minimum of three to five (3–5) years of recreation, youth development, or related field with focus experience in camp administration, youth programming, orschool leadership.
Demonstrated ability to manage staff, budgets, and multiple program areas simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Knowledge of health and safety practices applicable to youth programs.
Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to start date.
