Under direction of the Head of Middle School and in collaboration with the English department, the Middle School English teacher will be responsible for teaching classes in English language, literature, and writing. The teacher will design and deliver lessons, assess student performance, and provide feedback to help students develop their skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The teacher will also collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to create a supportive learning environment and ensure that students meet academic standards. The positions will begin in August for the 2026-27 school year.
Position Duties (including, but are not limited to)
Deliver the appropriate grade level English curriculum to students.
Plan and implement effective classroom management strategies to promote student learning and academic success
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Create a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives
Assess student progress and provide regular feedback on strengths, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes mutual respect, cooperation, and academic excellence.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, challenges, and opportunities for growth
Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills, stay current with trends and best practices in education, and contribute to the school community
Collaborate with the English department and the grade level team to support both curricular goals as well as the social, emotional, and academic well-being of students.
Attend staff meetings, participate in community events, and serve on staff committees as required for a full-time position.

Perform other duties as required
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Experience teaching within the content area
Ability to plan and implement effective lessons to engage middle school students
Effective use of formative and summative evaluation to meet the needs of each student.
Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
Ability to infuse technology into curriculum
Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, students, parents and community
Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
