Assisting lead teachers with planning and providing individualized instruction in various academic areas.
Attending training workshops, faculty in-service, and staff meetings, and will be trained in the following (contingent upon time of hire):

Visualizing and Verbalizing
Standard first aid
Participating in co-curricular programs, activities, and duties as assigned.
Substituting and assuming the role of a teacher should there be a leave of absence.
Job Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate holds certification in special education, elementary, or a specific content area. In addition, the candidate must be a good collaborator and creative educator who can engage students using multimodal instruction and teaching approaches that embrace the strengths, talents, and potential of students with language-based learning differences and attention issues. This role requires a creative thinker with excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills and a passion for enhancing the student experience.

Reliably commute to Southport, CT
Is a self-starter who can work independently or as part of a cross-functional team
Positive attitude and ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents
Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Experience working with children
Training in Structured Literacy
Working Conditions
Full-time, onsite position, typically Monday through Friday
Occasional evening and weekend hours are required for special events

The Southport CoLAB is a division of The Southport School that was established in 2018. It serves as an open resource, clearinghouse, and incubator in the field of learning differences. Its mission is to integrate research, practice, and advocacy to effect positive outcomes by translating best practices from that field to benefit all learners.
TSS is led by Executive Director, Dr. Benjamin N. Powers, who is in his fourteenth year and leads a dedicated team of 67 members.
